- BIOGRAPHY
The origins of Godehildis/Gotelina are unknown. Before August 1026/1027 she became the second wife of Roger I 'Hispanicus', seigneur de Tosny, son of Radulf II, seigneur de Tosny. To free himself to marry Godehildis, Roger had repudiated his first wife, whose name is not known. Godehildis and Roger are recorded as the parents of Adelize and Radulf, both of whom are recorded with progeny.
About 1040 Roger was killed in battle, and Godehildis was then forced to marry Richard, comte d'Evreux, son of Robert of Normandy, comte d'Evreux, archbishop of Rouen, and his wife Herleve. Godehildis and Richard were the parents of three children, Guillaume who succeeded as comte d'Evreux, Agnes and Godehilde. Guillaume died unmarried, Agnes married Simon I de Montfort-l'Amaury and had progeny, and Godehilde became a nun at Saint-Saveur, Evreux, where she was mentioned in the foundation charter by her father.
Godehildis died after 1055.
