- BIOGRAPHY
On 30 April 1615, he was knighted and, on 12 May 1629 'for faithful services', created Viscount Ikerrin, taking his seat on 5 August 1634. However, in the rebellion of 1641 he took an active part with the Roman Catholic Irish, being Lieutenant General of their forces. He also took part in the defence of Limerick and the battles of Liscarrol and Rosse. Accordingly, he was outlawed and appears to have died before 20 April 1661. By warrant dated 20 April 1661, his widow received £15 from the Irish Government 'for her present relief' and, on 16 June 1663, was adjudged innocent as Lady Dowager of Ikerrin.
